The James Sedgwick Distillery Tasting

Guest host Mike Brisebois leads us through this BSWS exclusive tasting, featuring 6 unique expressions from the  award winning James Sedgwick Distillery, located in Wellington, South Africa. 

This exceptional tasting included;

Bain's Cape Mountain Single Grain Whisky, Bain's Founders Collection 15 Year Old, 

Bain's 18 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish, Three Ships 5 Year Old, Three Ships 10 Year Old Single Malt & Three Ships 15 Year Old Pinotage Cask Finish. 

Special guest Mike Brisebois, returns for the third time within eight virtual tastings over this past year, providing historical insight and stories behind the Tobermory distillery, located on the Isle of Mull within the Hebridean coast of Scotland.  

This virtual tasting, show-cased eight wonderfully delicious drams;   

Tobermory Hebridean Gin, Tobermory 12 YO, Tobermory 2007 Sherry Finish, Tobermory 42 YO, Ledaig 10, Ledaig Rioja Sinclair Edition, Ledaig 18, Ledaig 21 Manzanilla

 A celebration of Scotland's favourite son, Robbie Burns.  A virtual whisky tasting event with special guest host John MacPherson from PMA Canada Ltd.  Featuring 7 drams from such distilleries as Glendronach, BenRiach and Glenfiddich.  Robbie Burns' address to the Haggis was recited and toasted with a dram from Black Bottle. 

Special guest Claire Freel, Whisky Portfolio Consultant for Corby Spirit and Wine, began her whisky journey working at the Lark distillery, in Tasmania.  Claire took our whisky club off road from our normal journey of Single Malt Scotch Whisky and presented an exceptionally informative tasting experience, about distilled grain from Legendary Canadian Distilleries, who have a history older than this country itself.   Featuring Brands from J.P. Wisers, Pike Creek, Gooderham & Worts and Lot 40.

Special guest Jamie Johnson, Whisky Brand Ambassador for The Balvenie Distillery, takes us on a virtual tour of this quaint distillery, converted from an 18th century mansion (Balvenie New House), while we taste delicious drams and learn about the handcrafted process, carried out at this William Grant & Sons establishment.  The event featured unique tasting profiles from five delicious expressions; 

Tun 1509 / Portwood 21 yo / 12 yo Single Barrel / Caribbean Cask 14 yo / Week of Peat

Special guest Mike Brisebois, returns to the BSWS 10th Anniversary series of virtual tastings for a second time, providing us with his timeless knowledge of the Deanston Distillery, located on the banks of the Teith River, in the Scottish Highlands.  

This virtual tasting, show-cased seven wonderfully delicious drams;   

Virgin Oak, 12 Year, 18 Year, Cream Sherry Finish,  Organic Oloroso Finish, Palo Cortado Cask Finish and the Deanston 40 Year Old

Special guest, James Neil, a highly sought-after educator of whisky and spirits, took us on a World Whisky Whiskey journey, sharing stories about distilleries in Japan, Ireland and Scotland.  

Also attending and contributing to the entertaining element of this event, was Bill Somerville, brand ambassador for Gordon & MacPhail, who recited the "Laphroaig Poem" by Elvis McGonagall.

Brands featured were Toki, Kilbeggan, Auchentoshan 12, Laphroaig Quarter Cask and Bowmore Vault Edition 2nd release.

Special guest, Mike "The Whisky Explorer" Brisebois, Distell Whisky Brand Ambassador, takes us on a virtual tour of the most northern distillery built on the majestic island of Islay.

This tasting show-cased the mystical flavours of six Bunnahabhain expressions;

Stuiradair, Bunna 12, 18, 25, Palo Cortado & Toiteach A Dha

 Richard Urquhart is a 4th generation member of the Urquhart family, owners of Gordon and MacPhail, (independent bottler and distiller of Scotch Whisky) and the Benromach Distillery. Richard takes the BSWS through a tasting of Benromach Classic Speyside Vintage Cask Strength 2008 Batch 1.
Only 5,500 bottles were released worldwide. It was a fantastic event and an unforgettable tasting.
